From the first chapter of Lisa’s book where she describes her protagonist Edie  receiving a text dumping  her  from  her current boyfriend you know that is a book for all the angsty, anxious, slightly nerdy  young women out there who live in a constant state of feeling they are failing to live up to someone else’s expectations of them.  Lisa’s book illustrates that  you can’t run away from your problems with life by changing the scenery – Edie flees to her childhood coastal home only to find she is still overshadowed by her father’s past as a famous surfer. In this first chapter, read by Lisa, we hear her characters astute observations of the local poetry club which ends in her own personal humiliation forced onto the stage to read her own work. It does make one wonder whether  the lead character is based a little on the author herself at a much tenderer age!
